Educational Opportunity Center (EOC)
The Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) is a program that helps adults enroll in college, university, or vocational school. The program offers assistance free of charge to economically-disadvantaged adults who live in Tarrant or Dallas county who do not have a bachelor’s degree. In order to take advantage of the services, you have to be a U.S. citizen or permanent legal resident age 19 or older.  The EOC can help participants with the process of navigating the admission and financial aid paperwork needed to enroll in college or help refer them to the different GED classes available in their area.  They also provide career exploration and advising, examine educational options, and have financial literacy materials available to encourage our participants to make good sound decisions about their post-secondary education.
In order to receive services, people who meet the qualifications must complete an application to determine their eligibility according to federal guidelines.  The Educational Opportunity Center is funded by the U.S. Department of Education and is sponsored locally by The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA).
